I worked for a AM/FM combo in 1989-91 and our AM Side was Urban. After playing
Country from midnight to 6am I went home listening to the AM morning jock who
spun it a lot. I bought the cassette and freaked when I could remember all the
songs. The staff must have been playing every cut off of it.
Its a shame Guy didn't cross over to CHR or follow-up with a great second CD.
But New Jack Swing did lead to Hip-Hop artists learning how to use pop hooks
and choruses to further broaden its mass appeal.
