Hey all Boston area Auditeers-Happy pop new year to you all!
If one of your new year's resolutions was to get out more and discover some
good music for 2004 this is the show for you-- I cannot be there myself, but it
would behoove any of you to show up and support my fave band THE JANE ANCHOR.
They are playing nice and early (like 9:30) at TT the BEAR's this Sunday
January 4, 2004.
For those of you who missed IKE at the IPO Boston show, or saw them and dug
them, THE JANE ANCHOR is 75% of IKE, with the addition of
songwriter/singer/guitarist Kara Lafty. She and John Faye (IKE, Caulfields) swap and share
harmonies like you would not believe. Their songs are memorable and you will catch
yourself singing right along.
PLEASE come out and support these fine folks, as they make the trek up from
Philly to crack that musical nut known as Cambridge MA.
Thanks a bunch!
Beth Lennon - who just sent a bunch of Christmas gift money to my pals at Not
Lame and Q-Division!

"I've always felt a connection to loud guitars and great melodies. I get
butterflies whenever I hear a great hook and that's what I love about pop music.
That feeling alone is what made me want to explore in the first place," says
Lafty.

Here's what the press has to say about Kara and The Jane Anchor:
âCombining jagged riffs and angular changes with a sound stripped down to the
chassis, Lafty crafts her own brand of ringing hooks and body-jerking
backbeats. But it's not just about the breathless, exhilarating sound of this band
that makes them a great listen, as Lafty has a way with clever lyrics, which are
by turns incisive and inspired. Her dulcet-voiced delivery catches you in its
sway, conveying a sense of vulnerability and lovelorn despair.â
-- Eliot Wilder, Amplifier Magazine
"A great song can blow your mind and wrest control of your body. Most bands
would be lucky to write one in their career. The Jane Anchor have two on their
four-song Just Wait EP...Got It Made and Empty Bottle grab you, pick you up
and don't put you down until long after they're done."
-- M.J. Fine, Philadelphia City Paper
"Guitarist/vocalist Kara Lafty, makes speedy, Windex-bright pop...She's got a
knack for crafting beguiling, invigorating rock."
-- Carlene Bauer, CMJ New Music Report
âThere are few people who can consistently put a musical smile on my face,
but Kara is one of them; the songs have a tremendous life to them, simple pop
melodies full of ringing guitars...I'll definitely be looking forward to Kara's
next venture, since she hasn't gone wrong yet.â
