Umm, not to split hairs here, but Outkast are defiantly anti-gangsta, which
is an actual sub-genre, not a way to describe all big scary rap music. Also
"The Way You Move" is the single from Big Boi's disc, and "Hey Ya" is the one
from Andre's, and both were released as singles simultaneously... that's part of
the idea, since each of them did their own disc and released the two as a
double album. Actually the week that "Hey Ya!" peaked at #1 on Billboard, "The Way
You Move" was close behind at #3. Big Boi's disc is more of a typical hip-hop
album, though as Stewart and some others have noted, it's quite stellar in
its own right and would probably be recognized more were it not paired with the
incredible "The Love Below". And as far as going too pop, or whatever...
Outkast have been around for ten years (and already racked up one #1 pop hit with
"Ms. Jackson" about 3 years ago) and their audience has come to expect this
type of genre-jumping. I seriously doubt it's turned many people off. I don't get
the New Jack thing at all, either, but I guess I'll cut some slack on that
one...

Sorry to keep talking about Outkast, I realize it's not really audities-esque
music even if it does have some qualities that will appeal to some here.
