As far a reissues, remasters, SACD, and so on.... I have always thought it
would be nice to throw the fans a bone by allowing them to turn-in the
original release (or the first of several reissues, etc) for a discount on
the latest reissue.

I often think of the Elvis Costello reissues. When Rykodisc came out with
their sets, I know plenty of people who snapped them up even though they had
already spent money on the crappy Columbia CDs (and, of course, their
Columbia vinyl). The sound was supposed to be better, plus those bonus
tracks! THEN along comes Rhino with the reissues of the reissues with even
MORE bonus tracks and new liner notes.... where does it end? While I own
everything up to "Spike" on vinyl (except "Goodbye Cruel World"), I have
been picky about the CDs. I recently got the Rhino "Get Happy!!" (50
songs!!) and am happy with it (pun intended). I wonder how many people
bought GH from Columbia, Rykodisc, and Rhino. Maybe they should have been
able to turn in the Columbia disc for $1 off and the Ryko for another $1
off. That would have been cool. Then again, I know I live in a bizarro
world.

By the way - in case anyone was following my frustrations with the "Complete
Jam" DVD set, I returned the second copy today and agreed to take a shot at
the last copy Borders had. Still the same jam-ups (ok, enough bad puns) as
the other two sets - same places, etc. That's it. I need to get this DVD
set somewhere else!
