In my book the only other pop band to consecutively release 3 perfect pop
albums was the dB's. And even if FoW lower the bar on album number 4 I'd
still be happy if it were as good as the dB's 4th album, Sound of Music,
which wasn't as strong as their first three, but still stands up better than
most other pop albums of the era.
There aren't many bands that I'd feel comfortable holding up to the dBs,
who, for my money, were the best of the genre. But, like the dBs, I love all
3 FoW albums in their entirety and cannot pick a favorite. The weakest 5
songs on any of their albums are better than the strongest 5 songs on most
pop albums, and I'd include most of the other albums that have made my top
10s for the past decade.
