I always vote for the 20 albums I like best without worrying about "genre" -- and good God almighty, who would want to see another round of Audities trying to define the genre? And on top of that, who'd want to put effort into deciding if their favorite records fit such a definition? Given that list members are here because they have at least some interest in power pop, it'll skew that way on its own without the application of blinders, plus I think it's always cool to see how well prominent albums that don't quite fit the profile (Outkast this year, Wilco last year) will score.
On another subject: while my personal position on the EP question is akin to Stewart's, as far as I'm concerned, it's Michael's baby and he gets to make the calls. And in deference to the amount of work it takes for him to tabulate the votes, kvetching about his few, straightforward rules ought to be kept to a minimum -- that is, unless the kvetchers would be willing to assume those tabulation duties. :-)
