Not sure if we need to do such a poll, to confirm what we all know in our
heart of hearts...that Jellyfish's two albums are the # 1 and # 2 albums of
all-time...
OK, I'm just kidding (sort of). While I think that an Audities list top 500
would shed light on a lot of great albums, it would be subject to about as
many bias and bouts of tunnel vision as the RS list. No offense to all of
us, since we're great, but the focus of this list (and, consequently, its
members) is such that just as much worthy stuff might be left out.
Beyond that, the other problem, from a realistic standpoint, is that if
every single list member responded with, let's say, ten choices, while there
would be some that would garner a fair amount of tallies, due to the
hardcore music loving types here, you'd get tons of albums that would get
one or two mentions. Realistically, once you got past the first 100 or so,
you'd probably only have albums that got very few tallies.
Oh...and someone would have to compile it -- I'll stick with the top 20...
