The Beatles albums we meant to be a collection of songs, not singles.
The singles were unique and as a result sold really well. If you were
lucky, you got a picture sleeve, and always a good B-side. Now the idea
of putting out a song that isn't on the big album package is impossible
for labels to imagine.

And yes, an album does have to end with the "big song" or the end piece,
the one nothing else could follow. The only down side is that some of
our "best songs" are all the way at the end of the album.

I've spent a lot of time programming our cds, which isn't nearly that
easy. Three of our four releases are worked out as if they were albums,
a double album in one case. Four distinct sides: four first songs, four
end songs, the last one of those the finale. The one cd I just did as a
64 minute cd, just doesn't flow as well for me. The thing is, a lot of
people like that one best!

We have also ended up with a few songs that should have been singles.
Different enough from the album as not to fit, but a great song that
stands up on it's own... what do you do now?
