Over here in Bozeman they are getting ready to open the Superstore. As a
result a lot of businesses are doing their best to deal with that. It
means the locally owned business are expanding their offerings and
finding new lower prices. In the last three years we've been invaded by
big box stores of all sorts. While they seem to be pulling in loads of
business the local hardware, Food Co-op, and book stores are thriving
because they know what they sell and are our main street friends.
Literally

I still find it shocking that people love their Wal-Mart. You would be
surprised how many people pissed and moaned because the city made WM
jump through some hoops to open and then expand. As a result the Bzm WM
isn't as ugly as the one up the road in Helena. What it stands for is
ugly, but so is most big business.

Some local film makers did a devastating documentary about the cult of
people who live in their mobile homes, and travel aimlessly from
Wal-Mart parking lot to Wal-Mart parking lot. Might be called No Place
To Go... Now that is a sign of the end of civilization as we know it.
