It probably shouldn't come as a shock to anyone that "Best
New Artist" as far as the Grammys are concerned doesn't
actually mean Best *New* Artist -- here's what it says on
the Grammy.org site:
Best New Artist
(For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year,
the first recording which *establishes the public identity of
that artist.)*
Guess the Fountains of Wayne have a public identity now.
