The best new power pop disc I've heard in the past month or so has been
"Forever and Today" by The Richies. It sports 4 killer cuts ("Fallen
Stars", "Every Little Thing" [not a Jeff Lynne cover], "I Wanna Make It With
you" and "Today [part 1]) This band takes the power pop blueprint and
creates memorable tunes. "My Love is True" is a nice ballad that reminds me
of ELO. I didn't realize that Michael Carpenter plays a big role in the
band (drummer and producer) until I checked the liner notes. This release
is up to his high standards to be sure!
Can anyone out there recommend the new "deluxe" Who discs? Is Tommy
worth purchasing again? It always bothered me that the Mobile Fidelity disc
(the first issue to be condensed to a single disc) had an alternate (one
octave lower) version of "Eyesight to the Blind" that *replaced* the
original version.
