No, I truly was just being smarmy and vitriolic. I strongly disagree
that anyone is taking away jobs from anyone. It's not like an illegal
immigrant is gonna knock you or me over the head and take our job. If
you want to work at Wal-Mart, you can get hired easily, I'll bet.
They always are looking for educated and smart people. You'd probably
make manager pretty quick. I don't think Wal-Mart turns anyone away
who wants to work there. The jobs that are "going" in this economy
are the tech jobs and "semi-skilled" factory and manufacturing jobs.
This has NOTHING whatever to do with illegal immigrants. It has
everything to do with tax-sheltered, greedy fat-cat corporations
moving their source of manufacturing operations to third world
countries so they can pay indigenous workers pennie son the dollar
what they would pay an American worker.

Dude, I lost my job three years ago. The very day Bush took office.
I'd like to say there was a correlation, but alas, I was laid off so
they could hire someone who knew how to run some printing devices I
had no idea how to run. I did the six months of unemployment and, in
true American spirit, I started my own business. After some bumpy
times (VERY related to Bush), I now have a steady income again but
not quite yet truly lucrative. So far, no grubby Albanians have
knocked on my door demanding to engineer records or author DVD's...
yet.

Did these people get laid off? Fired for being Americans? Fired for
economic reasons only to be replaced by cheap labor?

I'm truly just asking.

It seems like just because you see immigrants working jobs, you are
assuming they are illegal and that they took jobs away from Americans
and legal immigrants.

$1200 a month will get you a house in Raleigh or a two bedroom swank
apartment in Chapel Hill.

My mortgage is just over a grand... 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 1.5 acres
and a 600 sq ft recording studio.
