In Montana there is a lot of those trophy homes. Just here in town they built a
huge subdivision of $750K+ homes up on the elk range. It's mostly those
"occupied once a year" houses. A lot of them are still empty, or went right
back up on the market, when people realized how expensive they were to
maintain. Down the road in Big Sky, Tim Blixeth, a zillionare robber baron,
built a "private resort". To buy into the Yellowstone Resort, you have to be
able to put $4 million on the table. Blixeth has totally disregarded a lot of
the laws and restrictions to build there, and can get away with it as he's in
with our dumb ass governor. A year ago, in the middle of a drought and massive
fires, he was shooting off fireworks at his "resort" with the governor standing
by his side!!

Big Sky Ski hill has the same problems as the resorts do in Colorado. The
people who work there can't afford to live there. There is a steady stream of
cars driving down there every day, and it's not just skiers. A lot of it is
construction workers, and trucks, as they are building non stop...

Karen was on a plane out of Boze with some wealthy doctor and his wife who'd
spent the weekend at their Big Sky condo palace. She asked them if they got out
and hiked around the area. The woman said "no, they spent the whole time buying
more furniture, and didn't have a minute to actually look at the wilderness
they are helping to destroy"...or something to that effect...
