Happy Thanksgiving from DANA & CARL and THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO.
We apologize for interrupting your e-box with an extra mailing this week, but
there are a couple of very cool rockin' pop events in Central New York this
weekend, and neither seems to be getting much publicity. This seemed the most
efficient way to spread the word to any interested parties (and, of course, to
the legions of folks who couldn't care less....)
First, fresh from their triumphant appearance at IPO East in Boston,
Syracuse's own power pop powerhouse THE FLASHCUBES will be playing a benefit
show for the Food Bank this Saturday night, November 29th, at Lucky's Tavern, 77
Main Street, Cortland NY, (607)-756-6912 at around 11:00 PM. The 'Cubes are
absolutely our all-time favorite power pop band, and one of the very few acts
to earn an encore at the time-constrained IPO! Any chance to see The
Flashcubes in their natural, live 'n' wild habitat is a gift from beyond, so be there
or be a trapezoid.
Second, ace pop guy KYLE VINCENT will be making his first-ever
appearance in Syracuse on Sunday night, November 30th, for two sets at Happy Endings
on Clinton St. From his great radio-ready rock 'n' roll with CANDY in the
'80s, to his current accomplished solo career, Kyle's been a consistent fave of
TIRnRR, and we can't wait to check out his live show. Hope you can join us!
Since we're going to see Kyle's show Sunday night, this week's edition
of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO is pre-recorded, featuring bracin' doses of
both THE FLASHCUBES and KYLE VINCENT, plus more from THE RARE BREED, THE NEW
PORNOGRAPHERS, THE POWERPUFF GIRLS, THE SINGLES, BONEY M, SUGAR, THE PARTRIDGE
FAMILY, THE WHO, OUTKAST, CHARLIE RICH, MANNIX, EYTAN MIRSKY, TAVARES, MR.
ENCRYPTO, LISA MYCHOLS, THE CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND, FOOLED BY APRIL, THE RAMONES,
CHUCK BERRY, THE BAY CITY ROLLERS, THE CHARMS, OUTRAGEOUS CHERRY, CAST, OASIS,
TELEVISION, THE BEATLES, THE DUKES OF STRATOSPHEAR, THE KATYDIDS, THE KINKS, THE
SAINTS, ANNY CELSI, DAVE DEE, DOZY, BEAKY, MICK & TICH, SEX CLARK 5, THE
POPTARTS, CANDY, THE DETROIT COBRAS, MICHAEL LYNCH, THE MONKEES, THE VILLAS, TAMMY &
THE LORDS OF MISRULE, CRABBY APPLETON and PURRBOX. Oughtta be good, and you
oughtta listen, Sunday night from 9 to midnight Eastern, with a repeat
broadcast all day on Wednesday, all at wxxe.org.
We return live on December 7th, with a brand-new track from THE OOHS!
December 21st will be our FIFTH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SHOW, and we kick off Year #
6 on December 28th, with a look back at what we've played a lot thoughout
2003. Happy holiday, and we hope to see the Central New Yorkers in our audience
at the Flashcubes and Kyle Vincent shows.
Cheers,
CC!
