I agree that where you hear a song makes a lot of different, especially
when it is unexpected. Hearing Badfinger's Day after Day still takes me
back to the Florida State Fair, where I first heard it blaring out of
the Matterhorn ride speakers. I can smell the dirt and grime and cotton
candy when I hear it...

But I think the best for me was playing putt putt golf as a kid, and
hearing Do Ya by The Move coming out of the tinny little speaker hidden
in tyrannosaurus rex's mouth. It doesn't get any better than that :)

Cheers,
Gary

I think the "shock" wasn't so much the song, but more that The Jam was
even coming out of a convenience-store parking-lot speaker. Trust me,
when I am usually filling-up I am being barraged with Christina
Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, et al and am wishing that
my car had only a 2-gallon tank (LOL).

Somehow, someway, Paul Weller does not seem to have the same popularity
in Philadelphia as he has in other parts of the US. He was due to play
a show in Philly last February, but the show was cancelled due to poor
ticket sales. I was especially bummed as he is one of my top music
heroes, and having never seen him live, I was holding two tickets.
Argh.
