I think the "shock" wasn't so much the song, but more that The Jam was even
coming out of a convenience-store parking-lot speaker. Trust me, when I am
usually filling-up I am being barraged with Christina Aguilera, Justin
Timberlake, Destiny's Child, et al and am wishing that my car had only a
2-gallon tank (LOL).
Somehow, someway, Paul Weller does not seem to have the same popularity in
Philadelphia as he has in other parts of the US. He was due to play a show
in Philly last February, but the show was cancelled due to poor ticket
sales. I was especially bummed as he is one of my top music heroes, and
having never seen him live, I was holding two tickets. Argh.
