Since we're all coming out of the closest here's my favorite prog / art-rock
albums that come to mind (with favorite song from each)

1) Close To The Edge- Yes (Close To The Edge)
2) Tales From Topographic Oceans- Yes (The Revealing Science Of God)
3) Larks Tounges In Aspic- King Crimson (LTIA Parts 1 & 2)
4) Ambrosia- Ambrosia (Drink Of Water)
5) Hope- Klaatu (Hope)
6) Relayer- Yes (To Be Over)
7) 3rd (melting face)- Peter Gabriel (Family Snapshot)
8) Selling England By The Pound- Genesis (Dancing With The Moonlight Knight)
9) Never Forever- Kate Bush (Breathing)
10) For Your Pleasure- Roxy Music (The Bogus Man)
11) Discipline- King Crimson (Indiscipline)
12) Foxtrot- Genesis (Suppers Ready)
13) Sunburst Finish- Be Bop Deluxe (Crying To The Sky)
14) Crime Of The Century- Supertramp (School)
15) The Man In The Bowler Hat- Stackridge (The Last Plimsoll)
16) Unfold The Future- The Flower Kings (The Truth Will Set You Free)
17) In The Court Of The Crimson King- King Crimson (21st Century Schizoid
Man)
18) Going For The One- Yes (Awaken)
19) The Light- Spock's Beard (The Light)
20) Red- King Crimson (One More Red Nightmare)
21) Freeze Frame- Godley & Creme (Freeze Frame)
22) Spirit Of Eden- Talk Talk (Rainbow)
23) The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway- Genesis (Carpet Crawlers)
24) Snow- Spock's Beard (Open Wide The Floodgates)
25) Low- Bowie (Always Crashing In The Same Car)

Other favorite moments are "Time", "Echoes" and "Childhood's End" by Pink
Floyd, "Fracture" by King Crimson, "Heart of The Sunrise" by Yes and "Kinfe
Edge" by ELP. Also instrumental albums such as "Music For Airports" (Eno)
and "Atem" (Tangerine Dream) are nice little escapes.

I never really got into Rush, Kansas, Tull or Marillion but I can take them
all in small doses along with newer hard progers such as Porcupine Tree and
Dream Theater (the new DT album is pretty good though)

Prog on!

Lee
