I couldn't agree with you more! Among other things, time will be spent
today finding and ordering their CDs online (too bad they didn't bring any
with them).

Regarding the Saturday night show as a whole, an indication of how great it
was, was that my wife seemed to have a better time than I did.

We missed the first two bands due to Holland tunnel and lower Manhattan
traffic and finding parking, but showed up in time for an amazing set by
Great Jones. Very tuneful and polished.

Other highlights included seeing our friends, The Churchills. For my wife,
this was nice because Ron's girlfriend, Karen was there, so my wife had
someone to talk with (my wife and I only talk on the phone ;-) ). The band
never ceases to amaze me with their music (even if Ron and Bart were
suffering from colds). Also, despite having a "heavy" musical attack,
Splitsville so impressed my wife, that she approached them about playing in
our home. It was the round-robin 4 lead vocalist attack (especially during
the cover of "Under Pressure") that sold her.

But the band of the night was The Playmates - man o man o man - they didn't
look like much taking the stage in their mod outfits, but once the music
started, the audience was enthralled. They were even granted an encore
after a rather long set. The future of power-pop may be from Japan - if so,
it's The Playmates.

Ira
