My favorite Semisonic song is Brand New Baby off their Pleasure EP.
I remember listening to this song and thinking it was so cool. It's a
fine song but I thought the lyrics were cool too. To run into an old
flame and find her with her baby child. Thus, feeling happy for her
yet saddened by how much her life had moved on with out you and
clearly showing that the relationship was over.
I must not have listened close enough. The one time I saw Semisonic,
Dan Wilson introduced the song as about seeing your old GF with her
new man (baby). I know it's odd but I think I'd have prefed to miss
the show and have kept my illusion of what the song is about.
