Cliff and I have discussed, and though we only heard the song on the radio,
we both agree it is a brand new "4-way street" version of the song. Jim still
sings it but his vocal delivery sounds different, and where there was a small
kind of simple guitar solo in the Jim Boggia version, this has a more RAWK
guitar solo.
Have to admit that I was such a fan of this song as done by Jim that I am not
sure I am digging the alleged "improvements" when it got recorded by 4WSt.
Cliff still has to watch out for swooning girl any time the Boggia version gets
heard!
Here's a thread- we all know that bands have demos and often the songs get
rerecorded in better quality at some time. I have found that I tend to be a fan
of the version I heard first-regardless of the quality of the recording.
Anyone else feel this way? Do I just get attached to the familiar first one so the
other sounds "different" or is it that in that rerecording it there is a spark
lost and it gets too slick? How about any examples of when the 2nd recording
totally outshines the first?
(Funny I keep on having a flashback to highschool when I remember hearing a
distinct difference in the major label debut of 'Til Tuesday's "Love in a
vacuum" and the version I would hear on the local music show. I know that I totally
preferred the first version even then)
