I ragged for a bit about not understanding the appeal of the Strokes
and, in reply,

(yeah, I was gonna mention them, but I figured I'd bitched and moaned
about enough, already! <smile>)

here here!

Yes, I agree. Good, valid points all. I didn't mean to dwell, and I hope
that I don't when it comes to my present state of mind when pursuing new
music and making new purchases. One point: AT THE TIME, though, did you
think the drum and guitar solos were overblown or just plain COOL! I
think we all look back on the various musics of our youths (or Yoots, to
you Pesci fans) in different ways. Me? I can still put on Bostons s/t
debut and just totally DIG the guitars and stuff. I try not to judge all
that stuff I listened to. Not that you were being harsh or anything,
Mark <grin>. You're right, of course, the joy is in finding that "new"
needle in the haystack.

Blink 182 (et al) would have been a MUCH better example. Thank you. Poor
choice of examples on my part.

And worth many times that, no doubt! ;-) Let's face it, as Lee E.
pointed out to me yesterday, I must have been having quite a "Senior
Moment" when I got myself all worked up about that ours v. yours crap. I
just got on a roll (albeit an old and crusty one that should have been
fed to the ducks, in retrospect) and kept typing. I regret most of the
post, stand behind the few valid points I made, and now vow to lurk
myself back into oblivion until this depression passes! Hey! In trying
to make myself feel better, I foolishly slagged an entire generation.
Mommy! Where are my meds?

I HAVE been stuck in the past of late, creating (way) too many 60's and
70's era mix discs. It's an addiction, and I just can't seem to help
myself. I know you all understand. Lord, I need some new music, so I'm
headed up to Wilmington tonight to see Cliff Hillis, John Faye and Kara
Lofty. I'm sure I'll feel much better tomorrow for it!

Cheers y'all,

Jeff T.
