This is an example -- someone with top notch taste, who, when it comes to 
Wilco, I don't see eye-to-eye.  YHF -- I think it has quite a few ultra-thin 
songs, swaddled in production effects that are...effects that are there for 
their own sake, rather than contribute to the song.  As for drummer Glen 
Kotche -- he is an effect unto himself -- talented?  Definitely.  Capable of 
dicking around endlessly, particularly with the stunning array of cymbals he 
surrounds himself with -- most definitely.  And I don't think he is often 
effective on the older material -- he can't bring himself to rock.

SUMMERTEETH is a big-time fave -- I think it is, by far, the strongest batch 
of songs Tweedy has ever come up with.  And I'm all in favor of the general 
YHF direction -- I just haven't heard it backed up, IMO, with top-flight 
tunes.  I think there is a point where Wilco is intersecting w/some of what 
Pere Ubu has done for years.  That would be some kind of double bill...
