When the Stripes played with Jeff Beck last year, they added a bass player
along with Jeff Playing guitar. It filled out the sound, but it's hard to miss
playing those classics with Jeff wailing away on top of it all. Too bad Jack
ran out of voice towards the end of the short set. Even Keith Relf with only
one lung could manage to sing the whole 90 mins!
Sorry, I guess if I hadn't seen them play on TV, or heard any of the hype, I
might actually like some of their stuff. But since I have and did, I just get
the feeling it's another modern self conscious shtick. To made it worse there
is now a flood of duos, even here in Bozeman, who all claim they never heard of
the White Stripes. I don't care for it much. Now the Kingsnakes covering Lucy
Mae Blues is a different matter. (insert the appropriate keyboard "face" here)
Ok, I'm off to do my radio show. Weather permitting, I'm expecting Deniz Tek
and Jim Dickson to make it up in time to pick some records to play. If not,
then it's straight off to dinner. Maybe a glass of wine too.

ps: back to the no guitar thread: Brain Auger-Julie Driscoll and the Trinity.
