Dude, that's Mitch Easter! It's his new band the Fiendish Minstrels.
And that's his lovely (and super cool) wife Shalini on bass. Man,
they are totally great. There's some Let's Active vibe goin' on, but,
this is for the most part, all new stuff. I have seen 'em bust on
"Every Dog..." now and again. Mitch is indulging his Julian Cope,
Scott Walker obsessions as well as just being Mitch. And, yes, that's
Let's Active drummer Eric Marshall on the kit.
The same three folks also go out as Shalini, which is mostly her
material. Parasol released a swell platter called We Want Jelly
Donuts (WWJD, geddit?!) by the Shalini combo. No capes when they
play... yet!
I think Mitch is trying to inject some showbiz & rock pizzazz into
this band. I say go for it. Mitch has always been way more Ritchie
Blackmore than alex Chilton anyway.
