I think you can read between the lines on reviews; they needn't be positive
to convey that you will like the record.  I remember reading the review of
the Cheap Trick album that Todd Rundgren produced; it was a total pan,
saying he overpowered the band and it sounded like Todd, not Cheap Trick.

At the time I was not a CT fan but was a Todd nut; I promptly bought the
thing.
