Hey Folks,

I had to chime in after I saw Bob's message. I'm using Nuendo in my studio set up (The Queens English :) and really liking it. Haven't asked the program to do something yet that it couldn't do. And for you summing fanatics, I believe Nuendo is supposed to have one of the best summing busses out there (Bob, this is true, right?) The biggest hassle I find is compatibility, meaning I can't give people Pro Tools project files when they want to open in Pro Tools what I've done in Nuendo. It doesn't end up being a big problem though, I just export individual .aiff or .wav files and give them to folks that way.

Pro Tools is like Jell-O, just a brand name that became synonymous in the collective conscience with DAW recording. There are newer, better and sometimes less expensive programs out there, although Nuendo isn't cheap.

Get a good computer, some good software, some great mics, a kick-ass tube mic-pre and compressor... then forget it all if you don't have a good song :)

Best,

Mark Bacino

Time to chime in...

Hey! It's 2003...

It took me 4 years to learn how to make records again. We use everything of worth that has gone before and is current. Evident on the new Cats And Dogs CD is everything from analogue tape and Cooper Time Cubes, to Nuendo, Acid and software that's not even available to the public yet. Pro Tools is considered outmoded, expensive, and, laughably archaic when it comes to being used in tandem with warmer analogue outboard gear. Nuendo, used properly with existing old and new analogue and digital technology is the way to go until tomorrow, (or 3 months from now), when something new and better comes along. Those that reject the future are doomed to live in the past.

Bob
