Well, we're off to play the IPO in Liverpool tonight... I'm more than a
little nervous, as while our band does more-or-less fall into the powerpop
category at times, I don't know if we do so enough for the audience - we're
as garage-rock as we are pop, at least live (although we've added a few
extra harmony parts now we have a bassist who can sing).
I think about half our set is powerpop, but not in the most strict
Big-Star-play-a-Badfinger-B-side sense, so I'm a little worried about the
reception, but then these are real music lovers, so as long as we do a good
set (which is a big 'if' in itself ;) ) I should make it back in one piece.
I'm looking forward to seeing Tony & Antony Rivers tonight, and also to
trying to catch as much of Jaimie Vernon's set as I can (though we overlap
with him by about 15 minutes, so I doubt I'll see much :-/) and I'll try to
post a full report of all the other acts tonight.
Once again, everyone who loves this kind of music should be very grateful to
David Bash for the enormous amount of work it takes to organise something
like this.
