Thanks, Ed, for reminding me that we had found the epicenter of rock- too bad
it is so far away from where we live!

Folks, Sparklefest was a swell time for this groupiegal-the bands were great
and the people were friendly as can be.

We swung by the Lincoln on our way into town LATE Thursday night (like 12:30
late) Luckily there was still some rockin going on and we were able to catch a
bit of International Orange and also some folks who trekked about as long as
we did, Milkshake Jones, from Harrisburg PA. It was great to see some pals -
Donna Sue, Lauree, Rene, Robbie, Ed, Cathy and Roni, Mike and family, and also
to meet some very cool folks from the Paisley Pop list someone say hi to Mike
and Gretchen for me please!

Friday we preceeded the whole rock evening by partaking in some of the local
cuisine (as if chicken on a biscuit for breakfast was not enough!) at Coopers
BBQ. The food was delish the company was great, who knew how much food (and
sweet tea) $6 could buy.

The evening's roster was strong and looking at the list of all of the folks
who played I am reminded why I am so exhausted. Frosted Sugar Bombs featuring
Mike had some great rock moves, Jeremy and family tore up the place- guitars
and harmonies thrown everywhere (and a mic stand too) at the end of their set.

It would be a no brainer for me to mention how much I enjoyed Cliff's set-but
I will mention it anyways-- he was in rock form even when missing his
sidekick Ken and trusty drummer Dave. Cliff and I both told Dave that he has a
replacement in the wings since Dave Edmonds ( nee Gladhands) was a spot on drummer
AND sang some great harmonies.

The Saving Graces were fronted by one of the Ppop folks I recently met Mike
Slawter, and they were totally energetic and enjoyable. The Anderson Council
sounded very much like the Jam to me, and imagine my surprise when I was told
they were from Jersey!

Cliff should have been wearing his groupietee when he finally got to meet one
of his absolute faves Jamie Hoover (who I recognized onstage only as "there's
the guy I totally whacked in the knee with my groupiebag and then told him I
felt like Tonya Harding"!!)

Athaneum did their part to fill the house, Velvet reminded me to ask Cliff to
be in a band with me, and by that point in the evening I was in no condition
to remember much more. All I knew was that we had to leave in the morning and
I SOOO wanted to stay and see Saturday's lineup.

Thanks to all of the folks who helped to put on such a great event- here's to
next year :-)
