Both Stewart's and Andrea's points are well-taken.
I admit there's an element of irrationality in my eMusic downloading habits.
For instance, I now have in my possession an mp3CD of every song ever
released by This Mortal Coil. Will I ever play the thing in its entirety?
(Given the nature of that "band," I would have to load up on Prozac to get
through it!) So why did I burn it? I don't really know!
This is where the collector's impulse meets the accumulator's compulsion. A
broadband connection to unlimited eMusic has turned me into the equivalent
of those guys who are found dead in their apartments surrounded by
floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall stacks of old newspapers. Maybe the new
policy will introduce a little sanity to the proceedings.
