This list shows that so many companies in the 90s thought they had another
Nevermind" or mega-selling follow-up on thier hands, and pressed up thousands
of copies of them... which were left to rot in cutout-used bins for years. And
the "instant fans" who bought them for that one hit quickly got tired of
them.
Another by-product from the death of the single, and another reason why Mp3s
caught on so fast with fustrated music fans in the late 90's.
What I bought (sucker)
Nixons - Foma (cassette)
Sebadoh - Harmacy (casette)
Catherine Wheel - Happy Days (bought it just for "Judy Staring at the Sun"
Freedy Johnson - You Can Fly
Darling Buds - Erotica (not a bad album but "Pop Said..." is great bubblegummy
late 80's buzz-pop)
Velocity Girl - Simpacto!
Buffalo Tom - Sleepy Eyed
Vercuca Salt - Eight Arms To Hold You
Dada - Puzzle
Belly - Star
The La's - S/T (still a fine album, at least for the first side)
Breeders - Last Splash
Lemonheads - C'mon Feel the Lemonheads
Sugar - Beaster/File Under
REM - Monster (which I played a few times and is now locked away in one of my
zipper CD cases)
