What was the last "good" let alone "great" Alice
Cooper LP?? "Welcome To My Nightmare"?!? To see what
kind of slumps this cats been in for the last quarter
century I dare you to TRY to listen to to disc 3 of
his boxset. With the Exception of the mighty
"CLONES",it's a pretty brutal listen. During this
slump Alice has kissed a lotta "frogs" as
collaborators (Desmond Childs,OUCH! Kane
Roberts,DOUBLE OUCH!!)Even the "Tattooed Beat Messiah"
himself ZODIAC MINDWARP couldn't't't deliver the goods
for Ol'Vince. ("Feed My Frankenstein")

         -"ALICE,PUT DOWN THE HIRED GUN"-

  Finally,instead of goin'for the hook-up with latest
hitmaker, ala Linda Perry or worse.Alice looked inside
himself(and his band)and tapped Ryan Roxie,(DAD'S
PORNO MAG!!),his touring guitarist since 1996.
(Vinny,Vinny,Vinny, what took so long?)Also along for
the ride as collaborator & guitarist is Eric
Dover(Imperial Drag,Slash's
Snakepit,Jellyfish)Together this rag tag trio of rock
n'roll dreamers did the the impossible, made a pretty
great Alice Cooper record! For the pop minded amongst
this could be the strongest Alice album ever!First
single "Novocaine" is easily his best single since
"Clones"The song has Paul Westberg at his pop best
vibe to it,great song.Another highlight is the glam
stomp (ala "Elo Kiddies")"Detroit City" an owed to the
scene that spawned Cooper,Iggy,MC5.(Wayne Kramer
guests on guitar.)"I'm So Angry"take a Cobain like
riff & and a great pop hook and turn it in to one
Alice's most energized rockers since his salad
days."Man Of The Year" is "Anarchy In The U.K." on
Ritalin! The only thing close to a clinker is the
obligatory ballad"Be With You Awhile". Bottom line,
this is a pretty terrific CD,Alice Hasn't sounded this
relaxed and confident in years & thank God we may
never have to hear the Alice Cooper "NU-METAL" or
"RAP/ROCK"album!!
