Hey Jeff, thanks for posting this -- gee, Michael Q, a
little freaking PROMO would be nice!!!
I witnessed (in the Christian sense) the Jupiter
Affect's IPO performance a month or two ago, and I was
completely floored, walled and windowed by their set.
If you like happy little powerpop (in 4/4 time), I
advise you to STAY AWAY from the Jupiter Affect.
However, if you like intricate, weird arrangements
(with plenty of rhythmic variance), screaming guitars,
amazing Michael Quercio choirboy vocals and killer
bass, and heavy-ass Keith Moon-esque drums, then by
all means check them out, NOW.
I, too, loved "Instructions for the Two Ways of
Becoming Alice"; based on their sets the last two or
three times I've seen 'em, the new album is even
trippier, hookier and weirder. I can't wait for the
show tomorrow night; other than Keneally, the Jupiter
Affect are one of the few LA-based bands that I have
sincere enthusiasm for seeing live. They are, in a
word, amazing -- IF you're into music that requires
more than 3-minute attention span.
