No arguments here, my friend. I recall reading
somewhere, recently, that Paul Williams wrote the
LYRICS to "WOJB" and NOT the music (which was
apparently written by Roger Nichols). I'd always
assumed that Williams wrote both music and lyrics;
anyone know his true role?

I did NOT 'damn' your band in any sense of the word
(and Drew -- you, too, took this the wrong way and
proceeded to call me a 'dickhead' in the process; nice
one, big guy). My, how egos are so easily flustered
here in this chicken coop! Again, Frank, I had PLANNED
on checking out your band; however, your inflammatory
responses to this admittedly trivial thread has caused
me to re-visit that idea. Simple, no?

Frank, I alluded to the fact that you offered to write
me "all the 6/8 masterpieces I could want" for some
cold, hard cash; isn't that what musical 'hacks' do?
Create on demand, for whatever the situation requires?
Or am misunderstanding the word? And, honestly, I
never, ever once alluded to you being a sell out. Calm
down your inner child, the one who's feelings have
been hurt, and remind yourself: this dialog is
ultimately inconsequential.

But it makes for a interesting newsgroup, doesn't it?
;)

Craig, I did a little research as you recommended,
and, yes, I most definitely perceive a pattern here.

The pattern is that individuals with strong opinions
occasionally express themselves on this list, only to
have the 'old guard' take offense, throw childish
names and unreasonable accusations at the newbie, and
effectively drive the dissenting opinions away; gee,
that makes for healthy discussion, doesn't it? In the
short time I've been here I've been called more names
than George W. Bush; this, from a group of supposedly
mature, reasonable adults who's sole commonality is
the music. Peaceful music.

It's as if many Audities list members are stuck in
some kind of adolescent time warp, where everything is
happy and sunshiney and pop music never, ever changes,
and we're all secure and there are no bad progressive
keyboard virtuosos challenging musical norms, and Viet
Nam never happened and September 11, 2001 was all a
bad dream for that matter.

Hey, that's fine if you're into that mindset, but the
Audities manifesto says this list is for the
discussion and debate of "insanely great music", a
term that encompasses a rather broad swath, does it
not?

So why is there a persistent, core group of
individuals here intent on squelching any kind of
meaningful discourse? Why are so many here offended by
pushy, individualistic, sometimes arrogant-appearing
posters (ie. me, Eb, Geir, and JR Taylor)? Why is
there so much of this:

This list is comprised of too many politically correct
people who fear reprisals for truly expressing their
honest opinions, and the list suffers for it. People
like me and Geir, we go elsewhere for stimulating
musical discussion with as little ego involvement as
possible; trust me, these groups exist. I only joined
Audities on the recommendation of a friend (hi,
Alberto!); so far, it's been a recommendation I've
come to regret; I really only stick around to see what
R. Stevie Moore has to say. :)

So, who wants to vote me off of this island? If I'm
truly not wanted here, I'll have no problem with
leaving you all to your devices. Let the voting
begin...

The Lord has spoken.
