I think the other key factor is that he really works best when he's the one
in charge: everybody loves Jason Falkner, but his song didn't fit on
VERMILION at all, and the other guy's stuff in PGL were uniformly terrible,
so much so that not even "We Could Just Die" -- which could well be the
best song Michael Quercio has ever done -- is enough to save the EP.  And
as much as I love the one of his songs that Game Theory recorded (the
ballad "Water" from their 1989 Christmas tape), I can't imagine him working
longterm in a band where he'd essentially be a sideman.
