And an audience at a rock show has generally ponied up and held up their
end of the bargain. Sure, there are tired performers and apathetic
audiences, but if they're an apathetic audience that's paid money for
admission to the performance, the onus is on the artist to, well, perform.
Speaking of onuses, what about the audience members that pay to get into a
show, only to loudly talk on their cell phones and to their pals during the
performance? At least they could go into the bar room (if there is a
separate room) to socialize. Audience members could at least take a stab
at listening or at least being considerate to other audience members who
want to listen. Being "in the moment" and "phoning it in" are two way
streets, folks.
