Well, that one doesn't actually count. "Eurythmics" is an ancient Greek
word that means basically, "bodies moving in rhythm," a common choreography
term, and so doesn't require a definite article. It would be different if
it was a shortened portmanteau word for "Rhythmic Europeans" or something.
As it happens, I'm listening to Jaimie's Scarborough homeboys right this
second, which reminds me that I don't think it's ever been THE Barenaked
Ladies.
Another missing definite article: after their second album, second-string
Tennessee jangle-poppers the Judybats became simply "Judybats." Apparently
the definite article was the source of all their power, though, because the
two albums they did without it sucked on ice.
