Like the good little power pop doobie that I am, I dutifully bought the
first two Fountains of Wayne albums when they came out. For whatever
reason, though, neither registered as much as a blip on my radar screen; I
can't place a single song from either of them and probably played each just
once or twice.
So of course I decided, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on
me, fool me three times, what-am-I-a-freaking-idiot? And so I resolved to
let Welcome Interstate Managers drop without a nibble from me.
But... but... all this damned power pop peer pressure finally got to me, and
my curiousity got the better of me, and, well, I just cracked. I just had
to hear "Stacey's Mom" and "Bright Future in Sales." So I grudgingly bought
the thing.
Turns out, it totally rocks! I mean, it rocks!
So my question is: should I be listening to the first two again? Did I just
totally not get it the first (and second) time around?
