STEW: SOMETHING DEEPER THAN THESE CHANGES (CD) - (2003) Synopsis: Something Deeper Than These Changes is what Stew calls a "2 a.m. kinda record...it wants to ease its way into your psyche - not bulldoze." The songs deal with life, love, and family in a quiet low-key acoustic setting. The lyrics are the most honest and direct Stew has ever written. OK, of course, there are a few surreal moments - it wouldn't be a Stew record without a few, now would it? But the general vibe is laid-back and reflective. And the word "love" appears more on this record than on all his other releases combined. Surely, something new is going on here. Something Deeper Than These Changes is the first genuinely personal record Stew has ever made. Listen to it at night with someone special sleeping in the next room.
