Great, short-lived Montreal band...some associates of mine are attempting to
get the Madrigal material out on CD.
>21) Andy Kim "How'd we get this Way" Pop
The king of bubble-gum hit his stride with this one....would love to see all
his albums on CD....he's holding out for the big Dave Clark 5 buy-out. Alas,
that will never happen (sigh).
>22) Kensington Market - 2 albums - Psych, Pop, Westcoast, Blues
Kensington Market were from Toronto....not a West Coast boy in the band.
Leader Keith McKie released an interesting solo album on True North later
on. Warners has yet to release these on disc...nor the former Jon & Lee &
The Checkmates spin-off blues act Rhinoceros...or the Wackers for that
matter. Rhino should have been all over this stuff years ago.
>29) Family Tree "Miss Butters" Psych, Pop, Beat (with Bob Segarini)
One of Mr. Segarini's finest moments/bands.
>33) Paupers "Ellis Island" Psych
Most of "Ellis Island" and the amazing "Magic People" album were re-issued
in 1996 on Mercury as a 'best of' before Universal killed their re-issues
division during the merger with Universal. Band featured
post-McKenna-Mendelson Mainline bassist Denny Gerard....Gerard would then
leave the Paupers to co-found Lighthouse.
>40) Gary Lewis "Listen" softpop, pop
WOW! Totally forgot this on my own list....got it in a bargain bin in the
early '70s for $0.99
It seriously affected my formative songwriting years....his version of
"Reason To Believe" is rather enchanting. There's a Turtle's cover on there
too.

The Children were the remnants of Three's A Crowd which launched the careers
of David Wiffen and Bruce Cockburn. The rest is truly rare and underground
Canadian material. I'm not only impressed they made this list, but that
someone besides myself know who these acts are....and appreciates their
output.
Robert...you may want to check into Gear Fab Records who are digging up even
greater Canadian treasures than these....Ellison, Blue Train, Mock Duck, The
United Empire Loyalists....mostly psych...but some pop leanings as well. And
if you're into garage you should try and track down ultra-rare releases by
The Haunted or The Rabble (both from Montreal).
