Hersh et al,
The show in question was The Mike Douglas Show - it was an appearance during
1978 as the other song performed by Todd w/Utopia was "Can We Still Be
Friends." I remember that show well, as I also remember the show two years
later when Utopia was promoting the ADVENTURES album ("The Very Last Time"
and "Love Is The Answer" performed) and guest Shelley Winters was hitting on
Kasim Sulton! Wish I had those programs on videotape...
But I vividly remember Todd pre-announcing "Couldn't I Just Tell You"
thusly: "This is an example of the latest trend in music called Power Pop."
And to my memory, I had heard the term before applied to The Who (in
particular the song "The Kids Are Alright").
Hopefully this post won't start yet another string of "let's call it
something else" bullshit.
