Same here, I usually do one or two big orders a month for my radio show,
when I get the CDs I rip them ino the computer and pick 2 to 5 songs from
each CD. I'm usually pretty careful in my ordering, so I'll at least pick
two even if it's not doing a whole lot for me, becuase people here like it
or it's getting good reviews and I want to cover the scene even if it's not
my favorite. These songs get files away for future shows. When I sit down
to do the show I go through the same process with the songs I have already
picked.
I encode all of those tracks to mp3 and stick them in the iPod on random,
and some sound better after popping up in my head on he bus over the next
few months - then if I think I might have short-changed and album -
sometimes its just getting used to a singers voice - I'll re-rip and look
for more 'hits'. It's fun but time consuming and there are tons of cds
lying around I've never listened to all the way through - maybe I'll get
lucky and lose my job - have more time to hear the album tracks.
