Personally, I've liked a lot of the bands on the Drive-Thru label. They
generally appeal the punk crowd, but I find them to lean more towards the
pop side.

Bands like Something Corporate and The Starting Line (who's song Best of Me
is in fairly heavy rotation on MTV2) are pretty good.

Two votes for the Ataris, will have to check it out. Phantom Planet
never did it for me, although Rooney is still my fave of the year so
far. But yes, too pop for this pop-punk experiment. The kids already
sing along with a few Rooney tunes when they're in my car. Maybe I play
that one too much! I was channel surfing a couple nights ago and came
across a show where some teens were in the car with Rooney playing on
the radio. I couldn't stand the show long enough to figure out what it
was, but it was kind of neat to see Rooney getting some (more) good
exposure...

The Ataris "So Long, Astoria" is in this vein and worth picking up. And
what about Phantom Planet and their little brothers, Rooney? Too pop to
be punk?
