I recommend "Gene Clark with the Gosdin Bros" which
was his first post-Byrds album. With Chris Hillman on
bass and Michael Clarke on drums (along with future
Byrd Clarence White on guitar) it's practically a
Byrds album. Released around the same time as "Younger
Than Yesterday", it's almost as good as that album.
I've always wondered what the best four songs off this
album, knocking off the weakest four from YTY
(especially "Mind Gardens" ) might have done to how
YTY is remembered. It's already one of the best Byrds
albums (I rate it as #2 behind "Notoriuos Byrd
Brothers"), but could have been even better
