Oh geez -- not just the Pet Shop Boys -- Sparks (along with Sylvester) had a
major influence on the whole Hi-NRG sound that dominated gay discos for
years. Pumping music track, played electronic, with eerily high falsetto
vocals. Both Erasure and Jimmy Somerville appeared on Sparks's PLAGARISM
album and those are just two of a legion of artists in Europe whom Sparks
influenced. What's really a trip is that Keith Forsey (Billy Idol's
producer) plays drums on the whole thing -- and he really could keep those
beats going for ages - a human drum machine, as Ron Mael once commented in
an interview.
