You know, I used to be a big 10000 Maniacs fan back in the early days of the
Wishing Chair. I remember seeing them right after In My Tribe came out, at the
I-Beam in San Francisco (small club). At the time, I had to go alone because
I couldn't convince anyone to go...what a difference a few months made!
Anyway, I continued to enjoy the music, but Natalie started to grate on me
as a personality with all her political correctness.
When she left to go solo, I kind of scratched my head, since her musical
contributions to the Maniacs had been mostly lyrical. And sure enough, her
solo efforts, self penned, were snooze fests of the highest order, made more
annoying by the continued ultra political correctness. I stopped even
paying attention after her second solo album. No, wait, I also listed to the
live album, which was just as dull as would be expected. THEN I stopped.
Unless she's taken up with someone else who is writing the music, I can't
believe anything she'll put out with be any better.
