The best band to play this game with, imho, is the Dandy Warhols. "13
Tales From Urban Bohemia" features references to George Harrison, the
Stones, and the Cars that are so unmistakable they seem more like
deliberate, playful tributes than mere influences. Their new US release,
"Welcome to the Monkey House" which I've been enjoying for the past couple
of months as an import, has some Prince and a lot of Bowie going on. I
get no end of amusement from the way they take a distinctly familiar sound
and put a unique spin on it. Anyone else notice this about them?

Oh, and see also: the Regurgitators. :)

-Andrea
