Donovan, Rufus (Wainwright, that is), and maybe a little Brenden Benson is what I hear. What's amazing about the record is it was written and recorded when he was 16 or 17. He seems wise beyond his years. Oh, and some of the strings were arranged by Sean O'Hagen of High Llamas. Great record.
