>>>Not so surprising. She'd have been a sprighly 31 in 1964 when the record
came out.<<<
ahhh with 3 girls ages 4 - 9 to chase after .. my dad played trombone & has
a MASSIVE collection of big band/swing jazz .. its been his passion his
whole life. So in our house jazz ruled til we got in our teen years & had
radios of our own. In the car traveling whereever we were going, we listened
to dad's jazz tapes. We went on family trips to Auburn Knights reunions &
listened to jazz all weekend long. I used to love to watch my parents dance
together cause they can really cut a rug. Me and my sisters sat there in our
pretty dresses dreading "the dance" with dad cause he'd always invite us
each up one time and jitterbugging wasn't exactly the popular dance of the
day. It always felt awkward & I was always very glad when it was over.
Mom's passion is playing cards - my ma the bridge master doesn't even own a
record of her own - heck she's got to clean around the 1000's dad has
downstairs. So that's what I mean by being surprised she asked. Thanks ALL
for the Roy O recommendations.
If you are still with me at this point, perhaps you would have a suggestion
to solve a family dilemmna. My dad is now 73 & looking to donate his
collection en masse to a college or university music department. Its a
treasure trove & so many will benefit from his generosity. If any auditeers
out there have connections on this level that could contact me, I'll pass
the info along to him.
