I think The Knack were the break-out band for the genre at the time - and a
better comparison for them would be bands like Green Day, Nirvana, Pearl
Jam, etc.  I'd then compare Good Charlotte to Live, Bush, Creed etc. - for
better or worse.

I can't waste my time with mediocre third generation pop-punk when I'm
spending all my money on fifteenth generation (not mediocre - all great!!)
power pop!  That would be silly.  And I'm sick of the drum pattern they use.
