Chris Montez had two distinct pop music careers, first as the East LA king
rocker for Ritchie Valens (after his tragic death). His big hit from that
era was 1962's awesome Let's Dance. Then, once Herb Alpert got ahold of him
for A&M, he was targeted at the go-go lounge crowd with Call Me, The More I
See You, There Will Never Be A You, etc.

Good new is both Montezes are covered well on DDC issue called Chris Montez:
All-Time Greatest Hits (Lets Dance) - 21 of his best songs at on a mid-priced
cd. Missing from this collection are 3 fine latter period tunes: Time After
Time, Because Of You & my favorite Foolin' Around. Still a good cd.

Two collections do cover each phase of his career thoroughly, the rocker side
(Let's Dance: Monogram Sides - mid-priced import on ACE) and the lounge era
(Digitally Remastered Best - expensive A&M import).
